Absolutely beautiful Basilica. I'm not a regular church goer, but when I need church - Mission Church is where I go. Diverse congregation, interesting heart-felt sermons, absolutely beautiful sacred music. They have a healing service once a month, and you have to check out the altar with all the crutches and canes left there when people were healed. People thought this was: Cool (1)

This is my favorite church of all the ones I've attended in Boston. Being a practicing Catholic, living here for the past 6 years, and moving a lot....I can tell you I've been to my share!
What sets the Basilica apart is the feeling of real spirituality amongst the congregation. In most churches, you feel like everyone there is kind of glassy-eyed and ho-hum about the whole thing, but not so at the Mission Church! Folks there seem to be there because they love it. Because they are searching for Christ in their lives every day. It's just inspiring!
The parishioners are an extremely diverse group of people, from the denim-clad members of the Little Brothers of St. Francis to the local families to the young professionals...just a great mixture of people.
The place is run by an order called the Redemptorists. They have a school as well.

10/23/2007 I don't have any desire to go to church - but if I did - I'd go here.
The place looks like a castle. It hosts some of the best-dressed parishioners any Sunday has ever seen as well as healing ceremonies that claim to give the blind sight, cure cancer, and all that.
In the morning my boyfriend and I drink coffee and watch kids play in the park next door. The view of the city at night from the park is pretty great and the occasional drug traffic is fun to watch too.
